I was born in 1844, not too far from here. But, is anything far from anything, really, when you think about it? I trained in Kondou-san's dojo and became arguably the best swordsman in the Shinsengumi. Or was that Saitou-san? *giggle* Well, who is to say? It doesn't matter anymore.
Well, all my Shinsengumi friends are gone now... Most of them. I hear rumors, now and then... Some of them I just -have- to check out. I am sure those who -are- still alive aren't really looking for -me-. Most everyone thinks I am dead, which...though it was very sad...became useful for a while. I didn't want the new Meiji government to come after me. Or worse, use me for their own nefarious purposes!
I have recently come back from a -long- journey to Hokkaido. I visited with Nagakura-san while I was there, visited the place where Hijikata-san fell and was buried...and picked up the money that Hijikata-san left for me at a bank before he passed. It's a lot of money. Wow.
Now, to go to Tokyo and see...what sort of wonderful things there are to see there...
I hear it is pretty there, in the fall.
